If you have a dog, then it might have used to seeing you at home everyday for you have been at home almost 3 months not going out a lot. It might have gotten used to more frequent walks.
But now when the lockdown has ended your furry friend may have anxieties when you are out for work.
Here are three ways you can treat your dog’s anxiety:
1. Start keeping your dog alone at home.
Start with very little time. Leave some dog treat at home, while your dog eats it all the family members should move out. Start with a few couple of seconds, then start increasing the time. Go for a short walk and then long walks.
2. Don’t punish your dog.
If you are out and your dog starts tearing up the pillow. Don’t punish your pet when you reach home because when it will see you it may forget what it did and might not relate the two things, resulting in resistance. Instead caress it softly and tell it what wrong it has done. It will surely understand.
3. Leave your dog in a familiar room.
Don’t leave your dog at some place they aren’t familiar with, for e.g., the bathroom. Your companion might get confused and start wrecking things. Rooms with a view are also not recommended, especially if your dog barks a lot. It might look into the street and at people, making them more anxious. Leave it at a place where it is comfortable.
